Threatened marine life

Queensland Seas provide important habitats for many marine species that are threatened or vulnerable to the point of extinction. These species may be threatened by human activities, such as destruction of their habitats, selective hunting, unsustainable fishing practices, reduction in their natural food stocks, rubbish and other forms of pollution. All these impacts threaten the survival of key marine species. We can minimise, reduce or completely avoid these impacts through sensible and considerate use of the sea and its products.
