Little Learners Activities

0-5 Years

Our littlest learners and their carers are invited to join us for a short series of special activities. From getting hands-on with real museum objects and specimens, to exploring our galleries and collections through songs, stories and role-play, this program is designed to enhance children’s learning and development.

Little Learners sessions are held on the below dates from 10:00am to 10:30am. To join the session, please meet our Museum Educator at the activity location at 9:50am. Bookings for Little Learners sessions are not required. Please note, each session has a 30 person capacity. 

Activities and Dates:

Thursday 20 May – Sharing Shells
Join us for story time in Wild State, then use your magnifying glass to get a close-up look at some real museum shell specimens. Location: Wild State, Level 4.

Thursday 27 May – Big Birds
Enjoy a story about a very big bird, then join the hunt through Wild State to find the characters in the book. Location: Wild State, Level 4.

Thursday 3 June – Feeling Fishy
Make your own fish, join in the singing and dancing, and explore the ocean in Wild State. Location: Wild State, Level 4.

Thursday 10 June – Dinosaur Feet

Join us for story time, learn about some of the fossils in Lost Creatures, and make your own dinosaur footprints. Location: Lost Creatures, Level 2.

Thursday 17 June – Flying Machines
Learn about our flying machine in the Level 2 foyer, make some goggles and wings, then join us for a fun song as we fly through the air. Location: Foyer, Level 2.

Thursday 24 June – Life Cycles: Butterflies

Learn about the life cycle of butterflies through reading, movement activities and investigation of specimens. Location: Wild State, Level 4.
