Brush up on your parseltongue, it’s time to meet a diamond python or perhaps you’d rather the arachnids. See whopping great water spiders, deadly funnel-webs and hairy tarantulas, they’re live and thankfully not as big as Aragog. Get up close to creatures that prefer the night time and meet some creepy crawlies. See the drawer of scary insects, including the death’s-head hawkmoth, coffin beetles and thorn devil insect.

Maybe you’re fan of the creatures that live under the sea. We’ve got the type that would do the bidding for Ursula the sea sorceress. From jellyfish to decorator crabs to the deadly mantis shrimp, the depths of the ocean house many fascinating creatures with secret lives that will surprise and amaze you.

Practice your witch cackle as you move mist and create clouds in SparkLab, Sciencentre. Go bananas for the new Monkeys! A primate story exhibition, get up close to monstrous specimens in Lost Creatures, and take a walk on the wild side in Wild State.

Visit the Primate lineup and see if you can identify our distant and not so distant relatives from their replica primate skulls.

Even though you’re not in the lab, still come and see what’s on the slab. See real-life specimens as our taxidermists demonstrate their craft. And just a jump to the left… its bubbling cauldrons, spooky slime and casting science spells – explore the strange science of fluids and how they bring Halloween to life!
