World Science Festival Brisbane 2020 cancelled
13 March 2020
Queensland Museum Network is closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID19) situation and the health and safety of our visitors, partners, staff and the wider community is our key priority.
These are unprecedented times, and following today’s advice from the Prime Minister on mass gatherings, Queensland Museum Network is cancelling World Science Festival Brisbane 2020 (25-29 March) and some of the remaining World Science Festival Queensland events in Gladstone, Toowoomba and Townsville in 2020.
Queensland Museum Network CEO Dr Jim Thompson said the cancellation was a precaution to help slow the spread of transmission of the virus.
“We are disappointed to cancel World Science Festival Brisbane, but the health and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and participants is paramount to us at Queensland Museum Network,” Dr Thompson said.
“Queensland Museum Network campuses remain open to visitors and operate as normal,”
“We are working closely with the Queensland Government to monitor the impact of COVID-19 and will continue to keep our visitors informed and follow all health advice from the Queensland and Australian Governments.”
All paid tickets to World Science Festival Brisbane will be fully refunded via our ticketing partner QTIX.
If visiting our museums, visitors are encouraged to follow the advice of Queensland Health regarding hygiene practices for prevention.
