Biographical Info: |
John is Australia’s foremost expert on land snails. He has published on the systematics, distribution and biogeography of land snails and on their associations with specific habitats particularly rainforest and limestone. His central focus of research at the museum is the documentation of land snails in eastern Australia and their potential use as environmental indicators in land management. He has considerable field experience having surveyed more than 2000 sites in eastern Australia from the islands of the Torres Strait to southern Victoria. He has undertaken faunal consultancies for the Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service, Wet Tropics Management Authority, Kuku Djungan Aboriginal Corporation, Queensland Department of Natural Resources and private firms such as Hyder Environmental.
