Biographical Info: |
Merrick started his scientific career as a plant pathologist position at DPI in Cairns. Then he worked for two years as a research scientist in the QUT physics department doing research on natural lighting and solar hot water system design. Merrick has made documentaries and worked at Channel 9 as science communicator on “why?”. He also had another science communication job this time with the Queensland Museum Science Centre Roadshow, until obtaining a job at the Queensland Museum as a research assistant in the Sessile Marine Invertebrate research lab. This was followed with a research fellow conducting research on deep sea sponge lithistids, until obtaining his current position as Collection Manager for Sessile marine Invertebrates.
