Jeanette's special area of interest is in herpetological (reptile) taxonomy. Her research focuses on reptile groups confined to Queensland, especially those from rainforests, deserts and sand islands. She has contributed significantly to knowledge of Australia’s highly venomous and potentially dangerous elapid snakes. Rare and threatened reptile species currently are receiving special attention in the Vertebrate Zoology Section at the Queensland Museum.
