Biographical Info: |
Patrick's main research interest is the taxonomy of leaf-tail geckos (Phyllurus/Saltuarius), from the rainforests of eastern Australia. In recent years, he has been involved in the description of twenty three new reptiles, including four new genera (Saltuarius, Sulcatidens, Coggeria and Nangura). Patrick has also worked in collaboration with staff from the Department of Environment, to study Green and Loggerhead Turtles feeding in Moreton Bay (southeastern Queensland) and Flatback Turtles nesting on Crab Island (northeastern Queensland). He recently assembled the skeletons of a 5.82 m Reticulated Python and a pig which are now on display at Australia Zoo. The job took six weeks to complete and involved drilling 1278 small holes to wire the snake's ribs back on to the backbone.
