Biographical Info: |
Carole specialises in fossil fishes from the Palaeozoic Era, mainly groups which are now extinct – the acanthodians (or ‘spiny sharks’) and placoderms (heavily armoured, basal jawed fishes) – as well as early ray-finned fishes. She is the regional representative for UNESCO IGCP Project No. 491 on Middle Palaeozoic Vertebrate Biogeography, Palaeogeography and Climate. Her work has included research on fossil fish assemblages from all the continents of the world, in collaboration with other investigators from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North and South America, and of course Australia. Several of her projects focus on Queensland localities, from the Georgina Basin in the far west to the Drummond Basin in central Queensland. She received her Ph D in 2001, and has published close to 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers.
