Maritime Archaeology National Conference

Forging the Links…

Australasian Institute For Maritime Archaeology National Conference 2011

Like links in a chain, the preservation of our maritime heritage and its significance to us relies on many different connecting parts working together. The whole can only be as strong as each individual link. For effective management and understanding it is critical that all the links in the maritime heritage chain such as government, Museums, NGO’s, avocational groups, other disciplines, academia, and commercial operators work towards common goals. This conference will explore these linkages and offer examples of how benefits for society as well as for the maritime archaeological resource can be maximised.

Themes Include:

  • Linking The Community With Government
  • Linking Institutions
  • Linking Theory With Practice
  • Linking Maritime Archaeology With Other Disciplines
  • Linking The Archaeology With The Historical Record
