There are many millions of objects in the Queensland Museum collections. Nearly all are carefully labeled and recorded.

However, occasionally, in the back of a cupboard or buried in a storage room we find something that baffles us: an object whose label has been lost, or that was never labeled in the first place; an object with no obvious purpose, or half a dozen possible purposes, none of them likely; an object that has us scratching our heads.

If you know what this object is, please email mysteryobject@qm.qld.gov.au. We can't offer you a prize, but when we update this page to let everybody else know, we can offer a credit for the most plausible answer. When you answer please let us know if you'd like your name published with the answer.
