Identification
Full size - 50 cent piece; leg diameter - pin. Pale to dark pea-shaped abdomen, no red stripe above but yellow to red hourglass mark below.
Habitat
Sedge-like vegetation, seats, buildings. Most common summer. North-eastern Australia.
Web
Strong, tangled, fine conical retreat, egg sacs spiky.
Bite
Mild to severe local and generalised pain. Redback antivenom effective.
