Identification
Full size - 50 cent piece; leg diameter - pin. Usually seen only at night or males when wandering.
Habitat
Cool dark areas - gardens, trees, corners in houses. Most prevalent summer. Australia-wide.
Web
Characteristic funnel-shaped web of sail-like panels or lacey web leading to funnel. Young of related species live with adult in colonial nest in bushes.
Bite
Nip and run. Mild to severe; considerable disagreement concerning severity; local pain, redness, with systematic involvement. Infection a known problem needing careful medical management.
Notes
Spotted around eaves of houses on walls etc
