Tusked Frog
Description:
- Two 'tusks' on lower jaw; used by males in combat in breeding season
- Back with low warts and short folded skin; brown, olive or dark
- Belly black and white; marbled or 'salt-and pepper'
- Groin, backs of the legs and feet with bright red patches
- Head of male huge, almost as big as body
- Female 40 mm; male 45 mm
- Mistaken for Cane Toads
Habitat and range:
- Rainforest, eucalypt forest, pasture and near townships
- Declining in parts of their range; from central Qld to southern NSW
- Vulnerable
