Description:

  • Two 'tusks' on lower jaw; used by males in combat in breeding season
  • Back with low warts and short folded skin; brown, olive or dark
  • Belly black and white; marbled or 'salt-and pepper'
  • Groin, backs of the legs and feet with bright red patches
  • Head of male huge, almost as big as body
  • Female 40 mm; male 45 mm
  • Mistaken for Cane Toads

Habitat and range:

  • Rainforest, eucalypt forest, pasture and near townships
  • Declining in parts of their range; from central Qld to southern NSW
  • Vulnerable
