Identification:

  • Back light-brown to grey-brown colour with broad, dark brown to black stripes; pale, dark-edged line down the middle
  • Dark stripe from the snout to forearm
  • White belly
  • Upper half of iris golden, lower half brown
  • Female 75 mm; male 70 mm

Habitat and range:

  • Very abundant; finds and breeds in artificial ponds
  • Eastern Australia, including Tas.
