  • Find out about your local wildlife.
What interesting native animals live in your area? They may need your help.
  • Look after your local bush.
Habitat destruction is the main reason why species disappear. What groups are working to conserve or rehabilitate your local bush?
  • Look after your pets and plants.
Looking after your pets will help wildlife. Do not let them roam in bushland. Never dump unwanted pets or garden plants in bushland.
  • Conserve resources.
Recycle and re-use wherever you can. This puts less pressure on habitats.
  • Get involved in local issues.
Find out about local issues that may affect wildlife. Write about your concerns to politicians. Join a local community or environment group.
  • Consider a career working with wildlife.
a career as a zoologist, biologist or wildlife manager can be extremely rewarding.
  • Volunteer to assist groups working on endangered species.
Groups such as the Threatened Species Network often organise projects where volunteers are needed.
