Outback Giants

		New Discovery! Giant dinosaurs found in southern Queensland. The first dinosaurs to be found in southwest Queensland were announced to the public on the 3rd May 2007. The announcement unveiled the largest bones of any dinosaur so far found in Australia. Two dinosaurs have so far been found: nick-named Cooper and George, they are giant titanosaur sauropods. Queensland Museum and the Cooper/Eromanga Basin Natural History Society will mount an expedition to excavate the bones. 		Winton Dinosaurs Queensland Museum Geosciences and the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum [opens in new window]* have been actively excavating large dinosaurs from western Queensland, near the township of Winton. These dinosaurs include some of the largest known dinosaur remains in Australia, such as 'Elliot' - the sauropod.
		Minmi Minmi is a small armoured dinosaur (ankylosaur), about size of a yearling cow.
		Muttaburrasaurus Muttaburrasaurus was about 7m long, and probably ate plants such as ferns, cycads and conifers. It may have lived in herds.
		Rhoetosaurus Rhoetosaurus is one of the oldest sauropods in the world.
