Info bitesA Tale of Two Pythons![]() These two Carpet Python skins are pinned out to dry before going in the Eco-Island Museum Loans Kits. Notice how one python was a lot fatter than the other. Its skin is also a paler colour and the scales are coming off. The Museum's preparator who skinned the two snakes said the fat one was a pet that had been over-fed. It took a lot longer to prepare because she had to scrape lots of fat off the inside of the skin. The other one lived in the wild and had been a lot healthier, with less fat in its body, smoother skin and deeper colour.
