Promote critical inquiry and explore history, literacy and culture through shoes

Description
This kit aims to give learners the opportunity to:

  • Explore the literary history of shoes in fairytales
  • Celebrate storytelling through shoes
  • Explore power, status and social divisions through shoes
  • Challenge perceptions regarding history and objects
  • Challenge learners regarding new ways of approaching the production of knowledge and critical inquiry through shoes

Kit Contents

  • Shoes from different cultures, occupations, interests and time periods
  • Fairytales and picture books from a diversity of cultures and time periods
  • DVD, cartoons and activity cards
  • Learning experiences for exploring history, culture, literacy, gender and technology with shoes
  • Shoes from a famous Queenslander and stories about their shoes, with a different famous Queenslander featured in each kit:
    • Michael Kasprowicz (Cricketer)
    • Aaron Payne (Rugby League)
    • Leah Purcell (Actor)
    • Rachel Walsh (Dancer)
    • Brent Tate (Rugby League)
    • John Vink (Queensland Museum)

Make a booking
Submit a Loan Request and receive a Booking Confirmation by return email (usually within 2 working days.
Collect and return
Borrow from Queensland Museum Loans in Brisbane at 122 Gerler Road Hendra or contact a courier or other delivery service to collect and return (at your expense). Premium kits are available for a 4-week loan.
