The Museum of Lands Surveying and Mapping aim is to provide the Queensland community easy access to heritage information about its land, surveying and mapping history. It is managed and staffed by the Department of Natural Resources and Water and is an arm of the larger statewide Queensland Museum.
Opening Hours and Entry Prices
The museum is open Monday to Friday – 9:30am to 4pm. There is no entry fee.
The museum is not open on Public Holidays.
Groups
Groups are welcome at the museum with prior notification.

Public transport: The museum is within a block’s walk of the Woolloongabba bus exchange.
Car parking: Limited free car parking is available at Landcentre building.

Explore the VIRTUAL MUSEUM - History of Surveying and Mapping in Queensland
Themes include early mapping of Australia, life as a surveyor, progression of the various mapping strains, aboriginal cartography, place names, instruments used, printing procedures and many more. Animations of Queensland settlement expansion and the formation of Australian States are viewable.
