Identification
Small to medium-sized brown spiders with darkly mottled brown body. Tiny stumpy spinnerets behind body. Usually a light sheen of golden hair on the head.
Very fast-moving spiders that quickly escape up glass walls.
Diversity & distribution
Occurs only in the Greater Brisbane area.
Many closely related species occur throughout Australia.
Burrow
A shallow barrel-shaped tube in the top 2-3 cm of the soil and leaves; the tube has a door at each end.
Bite
Despite frequent handling, no confirmed bites have been recorded.
