New Sciencentre Opens mid-2018

We’ve had our last whirl on the spinning chair and done our final ten metre dash, the Sciencentre is closed until mid-2018.

Now we prepare to bring you a new Sciencentre. Featuring interactive STEM experiences, surprising and engaging spaces where you can be a scientist, and be curious and inspired to discover the wonders of our world.

Opening mid-2018, this major multi-million dollar redevelopment will be the Sciencentre’s biggest upgrade since it opened at the Museum in South Bank more than a decade ago.

The new look Sciencentre is being developed as the first international collaboration with London’s Science Museum Group.

For updates on the redevelopment pop back or peruse our social media accounts @qldmuseum. Have a question? Drop us a line.

Do you have old photos from the Sciencentre? Tag your social happy snaps with #qldmuseum for the history books.

Perception Deception, the brain-bending travelling exhibition continues at the Museum until July 2018 on Level 2. Discover more about the exhibition, access learning resources and buy tickets here.

Due to the temporary closure, MyMuseum Memberships will automatically be extended to ensure your 12 months of Sciencentre experiences. For example if your membership expires in February 2018 (three months of closure time), your membership will be extended by three months starting from the opening of the new Sciencentre in mid-2018.

Check out the list of benefits and how to become a member. If you have any questions or need to check contact details email our Membership team.

In 2018 we’ll provide information on learning resources of the new Sciencentre to help you plan immersive STEM excursions for terms 3 and 4, and information about making a booking.
