National Science Week 2016

National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. Running each year in August, it aims to promote science and highlight the importance of science in our everyday lives. 

Queensland Museum & Sciencentre celebrates National Science Week with a range of fascinating events, activities, talks and performances. 

  • After Dark: The Science Of... Beer, Wine & Chocolate Soak up the science of beer, wine and chocolate this winter to celebrate National Science Week at the Museum!
  • Natural Leaders Science Week Workshop Queensland Museum is offering an exciting opportunity to help students prepare their submissions to the Queensland Museum Natural Leaders Competition.
  • Hands-on Science Science Busking as the Young Scientists of Australia don their lab coats and spark your curiosity for science. Try out some simple science for yourself!
  • Parasites: Life Undercover  Parasites: Life Undercover exhibition takes visitors into parasites’ incredible microcosm, evoking both fascination and revulsion.
  • Parasites: Free talks Join us we uncover the secret life of parasites with our themed series of talks by Parasite Experts.

  • Behind the Scenes Tour Explore the unseen world of our collection stores containing millions of specimens. 
  • Daily Discoveries Hear some amazing stories and view up close objects or specimens in the Discovery Centre. 
  • Sciencentre The Sciencentre offers hours of interactive, science-based fun for kids of all ages (including the 'big kids'!).
