Art Exhibition

National Science Week Event

The Underwater Wanderlust Exhibition features young and/or emerging visual artists from around Queensland. Artists drew their inspiration for the work from QM collections in the Deep Oceans exhibition. Collectively, these artists tackle ideas of mythology, technology, exploration, sustainability and current affairs surrounding our oceans.

Art in a museum context holds a place of significance: it is the channel through which we can further understand, contextualise and be inspired by the collections. Underwater Wanderlust can be viewed as an example of contemporary ways an audience can creatively respond to scientific information.

Showcased in a non-traditional gallery setting, this exhibition is designed to enhance community engagement through the participation of local artists, and by encouraging a broad audience to view the work, showcasing the Museum as a fresh, contemporary space.
