Biodiversity Collections Tour

Specimens are stored in purpose-built climate controlled and secure facilities, ensuring that they are preserved in perpetuity.

These specimens span the entire animal kingdom, ranging from tiny single-cell protozoans up to blue whales; some collected last week, others collected 150 years ago; and species that are common and still living to those that are now extinct.

Features of the tour include new species of spiders, insects, crabs, skeletons, extinct and endangered species of birds and mammals. The tour will also show some of the research techniques applied to collections that we use to discover new species, such as high definition digital imaging.
