Out of the Box

Queensland Museum South Bank presents Insect activities for Out of the Box, QPAC's festival for children 8 years and under.

Our activities are recommended for 3-8 year olds.

While you're at the museum make sure you explore The Butterfly Man of Kuranda exhibition.

Pre-booked workshop

Design your own 'flutterby' - an imaginary creature inspired by the rich colours and patterns found on insects.

Children look closely at specimens from the jewelled world of butterflies and moths then use colour and patterns to construct their own fantastic creations. Movement and sound elements will bring the flutterby to life.

  • Tuesday 8 June - Friday 11 June, 9.45am, 11.15am and 1pm
  • Saturday 12 June - Monday 14 June (public holiday), 9.45am, 11.30am and 1:30pm

Where: Level 2
Cost: Children $16. Book through the Flutterby page at the Out of the Box website.

Cost: Free. Bookings are essential for all schools and groups.
Minimum numbers: No minimum. We recommend working in small groups of 5.
